ON that note, while we at it... What about Tubes? where can I get a nicely priced set of 12ax7's? its about time i think, my amp is still running its stock tubes after quite some time now, they probably a little worn out...
Unless you are running very high gain (or some amp design that pushes a particular valve hard - like the Fender reverb driver), decent pre valves can last decades. It's pretty standard practice to only replace them when they fail. Phase inverters and power valves take the brunt.
