Hmmmmmm... If I'm posting in "Introductions" is it really a new topic?

Anyway, I've been a lurker for at least a year, mostly looking at the wisdom related to luthier skills, setups and repairs - lots of good advice and some amazing skills on display.

I'm another Lefty. About 40 years ago I started learning to play on a beautiful Yamaha 12-string, but reached a plateau that I felt was related to my sinistral disposition. Then the instrument was swindled from me (Hey, Hennie! hope it hurts!), and I didn't replace it.

My son took up guitar and that rekindled my interest, particularly when I idly entered "left handed guitar" into gumtree, bought a Tanglewood acoustic which was breathed on by my son's luthier in Cape Town, and I'm very happy with it. So I'm learning all over again, but as a Lefty. The neighbours sometimes give me dark looks, but I haven't been evicted yet.

Carting a guitar between where I live (Gauteng) and where I work (Lephalale) every week isn't much fun with lift-clubbing, so on Saturday I bought a "cheapie" to use at one end of the journey. A bit of research and it turns out my cheapie is a Palmer PD-21, which apparently retails for about $2500 in the US of A! Suddenly I need to think carefully about my conversion of this guitar for left handed playing so one day it can be changed back without lasting damage!

Used to be called Ellisras. Head NNE about 350 km from Joeys. If they ask for your passport at the Botswana border you've gone just too far.
