Tuno-o-matic retaining wire

Can someone please please please tell me how the hell you supposed to put those retaining wires that hold the saddles down back on. Easy to come off, but I have spent the last 30min trying to put it back on. Is there a trick or something?

I have the same problem ☹ Back when I was attempting to muck about with Piezo's i took one saddle off and now it rattles because the clip isn't in perfectly.....

If you're having problems replacing it, use a pair of needle-nosed pliers to get the second end in. Make sure the end goes in normally before trying to do it under tension - sometimes a burr on the edge of the hole stops the wire from going in easily. Also try fit the end you are struggling with first - it'll often go easier with one end than the other.

@Choklit - if the ends are in properly and it still buzzes, use the tip of a flat bladed screwdriver to push down the wire between two of the screws. That'll put a kink in it and tighten it up a little.

Thanks Alan. Do you recommend I push the wire all the way in one hole and then try get it in the other, or put both semi-in the holes and then push both at same time.

I'm just not coming right. I'll have to take a picture to show you the problem. I don't wanna snap this thing as I had to wait 2 months just to get this bridge. Gibson is terrible with sending individual parts

I think the problem is that the side that wont go in is coming in from a slight angle and as a result it wont budge. But I can't think of any other way to get it in without it being at an angle

Ok yeah, I don't know what that is... Mine is a Gibson TOM with individual retaining wires for each saddle. That's why only one saddle rattles (The one I removed)

Have you tried putting the bass side in first?

But yeah, you need to straighten up the angle of end of the wire so it goes into the hole at less of an angle. That's where the small needle-nose pliers come in handy. Obviously make sure the top of the wire is behind all the screw heads too.

I think this was the main reason they changed the design...
