singemonkey Jack Flash Jr wrote I know Singe has an Angus SG available ? Getting less available by the day.
singemonkey Alan Ratcliffe wrote The Angus is cool - the nicest sounding SG I've ever played was an Angus. Which one? Like mine? Or the custom shop one with the lightning bolt inlays?
AlanRatcliffe Like yours - right when they first came out. Neck wasn't to my taste, but it sounded great.
singemonkey That guitar has grown on me so much. It's the loudest electric guitar, acoustically, that I've ever played. The maestro gives it this Telecaster like twang. Quite unusually for a Gibson USA SG now days it has a one piece body and the whole thing trembles in your hands when you hit a chord. I love the neck access for slide guitar. I could play a Les Paul for slide but I'd have to hoik it up quite high which is not great with an LP. It just needs to be properly set up, to have the cheap looking artificial nut replaced (it's too low to get a decent action on that side of the board) and to get some proper pots for it. At the moment it goes from off to full volume/drive in between 1.5 and 2 on the volume knob - which is really annoying. Yeah the neck is a little narrower than my Tokai and not as comfortable. It's really a case of getting used to it. Oddly it's not as thin as the neck on my Gibson LP. I love that even though it's also a double humbucker guitar, it's so different in feel and sound to the Tokai that it's not at all a duplicate.
