The renowned South African Rhythm & Blues guitarist Mike Slavin has assembled his ‘dream’ band under the banner of ‘The Mike Slavin Blues Project’ especially for the second annual Jazz & Blues Weekend coming to Auto & General Theatre on the Square on the 24th of January 2014. Mike, who performed with the who’s who of South African blues men and women as well as with various pop stars both here and abroad, is considered to be one of our finest blues guitarists !

The band boasts a line-up that includes the unique sounds of steel guitarist Sez Adamson, the blues harmonica player Craig McKinnon, bassist Nippy Cripwell, keyboard wizard Bobby Pafhsovski, and American drummer Mike Canfield and a special guest appearance by singer Ms. Kathy Raven.
I saw Mike Slavin with Sez Adamson in the band in a brilliant show late last year. Just those two make it worth seeing. Sez Adamson is one of the best kept guitaring secrets in SA: Very, very good on guitar, lap steel and pedal steel.
I also went to a show (Laurie Levine and Josie Fields) at that venue. Very nice. Decent sound in a small, intimate theatre. A nice venue if you want to LISTEN to the music.
