Wedndesday evening is the first Andy McGibbon's Acoustic Forum of the year. This will be at Old Parktonians in Randburg, music starts at 8pm. I don't know the line up yet, but the standard is always high and all performers do original compositions. I do know that finger-picker Mike Burgers and lap-steeler Richard Bruyns will be doing a set.
Thursday evening is Open Mic night at TJS, Mark's Park, Emmarentia. This will be in one of the smaller rooms - probably the lady's bar. The guards at the main entrance will know which room is in use and will direct you. Pitch and play. There's a black board with the various slots next to the door, and you pencil your name in for whatever slot you want.
In both cases admission is cheap, PA is provided (plus AER amps at Andy's), and pub meals and drinks are available.
