80's MIK squier

Hey guys. Anybody know a little (or a lot) about 80's Korean Squiers? I know the jap ones were the dogs bullocks, but can't really find any info on the Korean ones.

I did see another thread on here about MIK Squiers, but that was for a 96 model.

Anything special about the 80 ones?

Try the Squier Talk forum. If you have a serial number for a specific instrument, Fender might respond if you email it to them.

The earliest Korean Squiers would have been around 87. Best check out the guitar get a feel for yourself and decide.

Seems to from from the link above, you would have find out if its an early or late 80's model, with the earlier versions being more desirable.

So finding out info via the serial will be useful.

But the bottom line is to play the thing and see how it feels as every guitar is different.

Found out it was actually a early 90's. Told the guy I am not interested. Also found the early 80 models are the ones to have.

Ons side note I also found out the MIJ tele I have is quite a scare item in SA. So I might just hold off on selling for now.

The early '80s Squiers were Japanese, not Korean. Korean Production only started in '88 or '89 IIRC.

Yeah also saw that. I also read that they did make one earlier in Korea but they only started keeping serial logs from 88. So no way to date the earlier ones.

I wouldnt rubbish or overlook a guitar simply because its korean instead of japanese.. there will be some serious geets in amongst some lemons.

This is true. I have an (supposed to be bullshit) affinity Squier. But someone fucked up at a factory and produced an awesome guitar that was bought in a pack with a shitty little amp for a 1000 bucks.

+100 Senhor Guido is right, just like there are some seriaaasly sour lemons amongst the USA built models and even the old L series! ?

Guitars are almost human!!!! (Well, at least mine are, they talk to me ???)

We tend to overcomplicate things.. if it feels and sounds good, does it matter where its made? I got some made in my garage in pretoooria that i wouldnt trade for the world. Not usa or japan or even china.. good ol RSA

On some of the international forums its almost borderline obsession. Like the country of manufacture tells the head that it sounds and feels good.
