I have been Gassing for something like this for years. Anyway, on a visit to my Dad in Cheltenham, Mud Island over New Year, I found this Shaftesbury (named after a street that the particular music shop was on) resonator guitar lurking in the shadows of a very nice guitar shop (no chrome and glass - just guitars amps and no space). A quick trip to an ATM and an exercise of self control - thermal underwear for only one pound on the high street, and she was mine. My Dad kindly refunded me the money and said that he wanted to pay for it. What a blessing - Merry Christmas! Anyway, apart from a nick in the back of the head stock, she appears to be in good nick. The action is a bit too low for serious slide playing at the moment, but at least exhibits a good neck. I am sure that she is not one of the greatest resonators around but I'm happy. She was made in Japan, probably in the seventies.
