Renesongs The word for this week is Science-Fiction The idea is to create something weird, unearthly, futuristic, and fantastic. Now this has been done many times before using keyboard synthesisers but hey lets try find new and interesting effects on guitar(s) The usual rules apply 60 sec or less, 4 track or less with at least 1 guitar track, no covers, in by midnight Thursday 29th
Neps interesting.. thats going to be tough with 4 tracks.. actualy one might want to comp together a couple of things on 1 track.. just to give an idea about SFX creation, i recently did a 30sec piece for a advertising company in the US, and just the SFX creation part took up 53 tracks. ☹, and i still had to add voiceover and music.
Renesongs @ Neps - We have to be fair on people who are still new to recording and don't have tons of Synths & FX, besides it's more challenging to get weird stuff using guitars. Hendrix was an avid Sci-Fi fan and many of his songs were pure Sci-Fi "1983", "Up from the sky", "Are you experienced"," 3rd stone from the sun", to name a few, needless to say all the effects were done on guitar.
AlanRatcliffe I find it more challenging to get normal stuff on guitars - the wierd stuff comes naturally. ? Good topic for me... ("I love monster movies"...). Hope I get the time this week. @ Neps - "four tracks" refers to instruments, rather than a track count, so a comp track with a dozen instruments would be a no-no. I try to make it drums, bass and a pair of guitars (ideally just one). I find that once I distil my stuff down to basics, the solos (which are always comped with me) are the first things to get left by the wayside.

Neps so I'm going to have to abide by the rules..hahaha This is realy a cool topic this week. I just have to find time somehow to get to record, and no, I'm not going to give up my weekly game of golf in case anyone wanted to make that suggestion.. ?
