Meh. Petty hoodlum. Those songs he recorded with the Pistols were appalling - musically and morally. I don't understand the reverence for the likes of Biggs.

But that's the thing, it isn't such a great story. The guy wasn't even a good petty crook - he got caught several times as well as being kicked out of the army for being AWOL and breaking into a shop. Then he got a minor role in the Great Train Robbery and made a mess of that. I understand that there's something in us that likes to see somebody cocking a snook at authority, but Biggs was nothing more than a not particularly good car thief. He wasn't a Robin Hood fighting an unjust system or something.
And that's without discussing his recording of "Belsen Was a Gas", a song that was so distasteful that even Johnny Rotten eventually regretted and disowned it.
