Epiphone Les Paul Junior Guitar for Starting?

Hey, thinking of buying Rocksmith 2014 with the guitar which goes for R2085, without the guitar it's R700. Is it worth the R1400 or should I rather look at something else?

I haven't seen the specific Junior sold with Rocksmith, but I'd guess you're not going to do much better for R1400. Then again, if you're willing to shell out more (particularly for a secondhand guitar), I'm sure you could do a lot better.

So It's all going to boil down to how much you are willing to shell out.

I agree with Alan with regard to a second hand guitar. With only one humbucking pick up, this guitar may be fairly limited tonally and, depending on what you want to play, you may be better off looking for something a little more versatile in the second hand market.

I dont know. A colleague who is brand spanking new at guitar bought the deal with the guitar and he is happy like anything.

For +/- R1500 new, I reckon it's a pretty good deal. Tough to imagine what else I'd choose new at that price?

At this price point fit and finish will likely vary guitar to guitar, so one might play nice out of the box, another one may well need a setup. The reviews I read recommended a set of new strings, some people needed a setup to cure fret buzz and some swopped out the pickup.
