After waiting since May, I finally received my belated birthday present to myself.

I was a little apprehensive when I picked it up, given the mixed reviews and rumours I'd heard but F*** EM. The guitar is great! It's not a super high end machine and it's not budget crap, it really is a great mid range instrument and I have no complaints.

Not much to say really. The neck plays great, I got the action quite low with minimal buzzing. I felt no difference in the scale length, (coming from 25.5) and the fretwork is pretty decent. There are a couple of spots where the frets are a tiny bit high, but I'll sort that out later.

The D-Activators sound pretty great to my ears in the Alder. Combined with the maple neck it has a nice snap to it, making the notes sound very well defined even on my drop G# 7th string.

But yeah I'll stfu now. PICS!

haha you just HAD to NGD the same day as me... And on top of that with such a sexy guitar! Not to mention that the pics you took of her are amazing! ? ?

Seriously that looks AMAZING!!!!! Congrats and enjoy the heck out of it! :goodtimes:
      Beautiful.

I recently put some DA7's in an alder body guitar, liking the results so far. Enjoy!
Awesome looking Jackson, love the colour

        Congrats !

And I bet them D Activators have some Serious Growl
Looks great! Tell me, what is the red button for?

          Ejector seat?
Congrats. I whish you many happy hours with your new "girlfriend" ?
              Wow, that looks beautiful, congrats!

I would also like to know what the button is for?

Killswitch? To manually create stutter effects...

Arcade style killswitch?? Buckethead springs to mind! ?
Yup it's a momentary kill switch. Def buckethead-esque.

Not really something I would use, but hey it is there. My girlfriend and I call it the pimple.

The D-Activators definitely give it some awesome bite. Very clear and articulate pickup. If I end up getting an 8 string, I'm going to consider throwing some in there.
Congrats ? Nice to see you finally got it ?

As someone who has played the 6, 7 and 8 string D-Activators I can guarantee that they suffer from the same problem all other Dimarzios available in 6, 7 and 8 string suffer from, in that the 6, 7 and 8 string models of the same pickup basically sound nothing like each other at all.

Don't get me wrong, the D-Activator 8s in my opinion are the best sounding of the 3, but the EQ isn't the same and over all the pickup's a lot less "hot".
Thanks for the heads up. Yeah I totally get that they have different eq curves.

For instance I have Duncan distortions in my current sixer and had them in a previous 7, hated the 7 string versions... Mind you loads of things could have affected that not necessarily the pups. But I get what you mean.

I've read good things about the DA8's but I'll expect a difference now that you've mentioned that there will likely be one. I must say I'm pretty impressed with them so far in this guitar.
Man, happy NGD this thing looks beastly. I'm really looking into getting myself a 7 string if you don't mind me asking how much was this bad boy and did you ship it from overseas

Enjoy the time with the new lady ?
                              Fcuk thats HOT!

                              Congrats! :goodtimes:

I don't mind at all. It cost me R10k-ish smackers. Given the state of the rand it was a more viable option than bringing one in myself. I ordered it through Marshall Music actually, they were very helpful and stuff as they usually are. I was looking at thomann... but including shipping and tax it works out around the same.

I've had 7's before and highly recommend getting one. That single string adds a bunch of extra options and is very easy to get accustomed to.
                                  VERY Nice !!!!

At first glance It reminded me of the Charvel So-cal snow white but not really
