I have a male vocalist who helps me with gigs. He is a fair guitarist but a much better vocalist. As we get to know each other's preferences and musical style I realized that I have to bring a good quality classical guitar into our repertoire.
so... I found me a Suzuki classical yesterday.
On the sticker it says made in Japan by the Suzuki Musical MFG co, Hamainatsu.
The price was good, the sound with the strings it was sold in the shop not so bright. I then purchased some Augustine HT classical strings, the store even replaced it free of charge.
I burnt my fingers with a Valencia SCE in the past and insisted that I run the guitar through an acoustic amp as a test, which they did.
The new strings gave the guitar a wonderful bell like quality with a bold projection. The notes are clear, no dead spots/buzzing on the fret board. The heel of the neck is rather heavy and wide it seems like good thing from a strength point of view. The electronics are SB-4TN 4band graphic equaliser with a built in tuner. It sounds pretty neat and the benefit is that it has sliders which are well marked. A good thing when plying in low light areas.
As a Semi over the amp, simply beautiful. The guys in the shop were stunned (so was my wife!). I hit of with Spanish Romance, re-tuned, Spanish waltz, Stairway to heaven and a bit of acoustic Hotel California. The sound through a Fishman loudbox was superb, clear and bright. At home I plugged it into the Fishman mini and lined it through a passive DI. Sounds schweet. Today I spent time playing, re-tuning and more re-tuning.
I am really enjoying this guitar and could recommend it to any aspiring classical and stage performer who wants that classical tone.
