AlanRatcliffe I'm guessing you're comparing top locks to thumbwheel locks? I usually prefer top locks because they are lighter and often self-locking, but Stewmac don't carry any top locks that are also staggered, which is very important for me on a Fender style guitar. I usually end up with the Schaller thumbwheel models and change the keys for perloid or wood to bring down the weight.
