Looking for cheapest effective condensor mics for vocal and acoustic.
I use ableton Live 9 at home , with a toneport ux1 as my input for recording.
I have an sm58 mic which I would rather use to record distortion guitars if needed. but for vocals. and acoustic, it is waaaay to soft to hear anything properly, i have to boost the mic gain to full on it to almost hear anything.
So I'm looking for affordable condensor mics.
I live in Cape Town. If you guys can give me info on where to buy, and what good quality I can get for one that does not cost too much would help a lot thanks!

Take a look at the Samson C01, C02, C03 range, very cool microphones and very affordable.
Consider buying 2nd hand as well.

I don't know if a condenser mic will actually help you much. If you can't get enough gain out of a SM58, it points to something else... Condensers do output more, but with most models it's not that much louder than dynamics.

I have to agree with Alan, if you are struggling to get enough gain from an SM58, I doubt you'll get much improvement with a condenser, as it sounds like the problem is with the Preamps?
See if you can borrow someone elses PC sound interface and see if you get any improvement on the signal using that?
Having said that, I do think that you will benefit from having a reasonable condenser once you sort out your issue.
The Avantone CK-1 is a brilliant budget mic, and is a hidden gem on acoustics. Haven't tried it on voice yet, but I'd expect it to do a decent job. It won't do the job of a very decent large diaphragm mic, but then you'd be looking at significantly higher price tags! The CK-1 can be got for under R2k as far as I know? The Rand has taken another dive though, so it could be slightly more?

G!
