Pat myself on the back - set up a guitar on my own.
Jayhell
So I have been struggling with my Fernandes H-65 for a while now. The tone, action and intonation has been bugging me for a while. Because of my current financial restraints (new baby on the way) I just can't justify paying a pro to do a setup. So after reading a bunch of articles on the web I took the task into my own hands. Patience is the key! Tuning, testing, tuning, testing. After a couple of hours of doing this, starting with the neck, doing the bridge and finally the string lengths, I have perfect action (for me anyway) and perfect intonation. The result is astounding! no more buzz on my lower frets, action high enough for slide guitar but low enough for solo work and perfect pitch. The guitar sounds amazing again and she will see a lot more play time in the future. It's amazing what a bit of patience can do...

A pat on the back indeed ?
It's always with a bit of trepidation that you attempt something for the first time, but the sense of achievement when you get it right is awesome 8)
Enjoy

awesome , well done...
at a minimum a guitarist should be able to do this with reasonable accuracy, u must have an understanding of how the instrument works..... these days I tend to do most of the set ups myself (referenceing a manual) ..the only work I don't do is truss rod and soldering ....cos I cant solder...
best to start by recording everything an recording all yr changes , that way you can "retrace" yr steps...
