Had a great experience today. Visited a local guitar shop and got to play 3 very special guitars:
First up was a vintage US Strat. The first strat I have ever played and it had a really sweet sound. Not sure I would pay the price of this guitar, it was worth more than all my kit put together!!!
Next was a vintage Rickenbacker. I had never seen one until today in the flesh and got to play like a Beatle today.
Finished up playing a vintage Gretsch. Likewise, never seen one in the flesh before, never mind playing it.
While I enjoyed playing them all, I would be scared to death to own one and use it to gig with. Even playing in the shop I was scared to damage one. I guess that it would be really difficult to sell one on the black market as they are so rare but loosing one would be heart breaking and would also make a severe dent in my net assets.
But I now have some memories to hold while I play my el-cheepo's.

Sounds like you had fun!
I would love to own a vintage guitar, but I agree that I would be petrified that something would happen to it.

Same here.
Tony has some great stuff in there and also some old amps.
Some are a bit beat up though.

I saw a classified posting a few days ago for a whole string of guitars for sale in CT and I am sure that is some of the guitars I played. My first time in the shop and I will be back!

Never mind vintage. I like any well -played guitar. They have stories and songs in them that brings a lot of mojo to the table!!
