Any recommendations for router bit brands? I have to start investing in some soon. Been looking at the Pro-Tech range, but are there others I should seek out?
Don't have brand advice, but please have a look at collets before you start building up a collection. I'm over the moon I invested in two additional collets and now can clamp 6mm, 8mm as well as 1/4". You don't want to be limited to only the bits you get in the one size and you need to shy away from converter bushings. It would be great if you could limit the whole collection to, say, only have 8mm shanks but none of the acoustic saddle 3mm bits will have 8mm shanks. Conversely, I have never seen 16mm plunge bits with 6mm shank etcetera.
The other thing to add is that buying sets is only useful if you're into making classic door panels and rococo furniture. If you only need a top follower, bottom follower, round over, plunge and finger bit, you're better off buying per each.

Don't play! spend the money and buy a decent tool. Never buy cheap tools. They will always let you down.
This, or the other extreme. I actually am quite chuffed with some stuff that I bought at dollar stores etc because you know you paid less than it's worth. Once it's worn, you know you have used it, need a new one and know what to look out for. Then, go out and get the best.
