How I spent my weekend!

So, for the longest time, i hve been meaning to build me an amp stand, as well as a pedalboard case.

Got a sheet of 16mm MDF, and got to work.
And this is the result:

As for the pedalboard case.. Its heavy... At 14kg before any pedals, its a tank!
And i still need to get hinges and vinyl the bugger.
But im pretty happy with how it turned out.

Yeah, i didnt get to try the amp out since she's in her new home, but im guessing im going to have to take the mini amps and guitars off when playing! Haha!

Anyways, if anyone is windering why i would want to do this... Floods.
2 years ago we had a good 50-80mm of water in our house.
So no electrical goodies are on or near the floor without being in plastic.
But i though i would make my stand more functional.
The pedalboard case goes in the bottom, and everything else is pretty secure in the stand.
Not to mention its right next to the plug, so ja, im a happy chappy!

I really like that. Do you by any chance do this sort of thing to order? I really want to get myself a studio desk with cabinets for a PC tower and raised shelf for my monitors and monitor screens. I can't find anything in SA at a reasonable price, and DIY is not my thing...

To be honest, i dont really do this kind of thing :-[
However, i would consider doing it! But with you being down in Durbs, i might just be better / easier / cheaper if you get it done down there!

my amp stand was first dreamed up in Sketchup

my pedalboard too! i design everything in sketchup first because its quick and easy, but can get complex if you wanted it to ?

just a bit of advice for anyone wanting to do something similar, though its always good to hear again if you already know it.

Measure twice, cut once. Hell, measure 3 or 4 times if you must.
Always mark the correct sides to cut and keep.
Prep, prep, prep. make sure you have all the tools / nails / screws etc you need. it makes building and assembly a cinch.

always work to a plan, and try not to do too many different things at once, especially if they involve many similar, but not the same sizes of wood!

and plan, plan, plan.
make sure what you are building is what you want!
