Thanks Stud.
Interesting read, but i found it very speculative & bordering on conspiracy theory and republican hogwash
This is from wiki, so please add salt to taste :
A 2008 amendment included anti-illegal-logging provisions which were opposed by some in the wood industry, who unsuccessfully lobbied between 2009-2012 to have them relaxed. Opponents publicized the 2009 raid on facilities of Gibson Guitar Corporation in which hardwoods that had been illegally harvested in Madagascar were seized. Gibson professed its innocence and accused the federal government of bullying. Gibson eventually admitted wrongdoing and settled the case in August 2012, saying it felt "compelled to settle as the costs of proving [the] case at trial would have cost millions of dollars and taken a long time to resolve."[2]
All the Gibbo worshippers can shoot me in 3...2...1...
I see the slanted opinion (you can quickly get that by the website), however it is interesting
"The premise of the raid was an obscure 100-year-old law known as the Lacey Act." Juszkiewicz was only told at the time that the Gibson supply chain had a “risk” of including illicit wood...... This was in fact the only infraction the company was penalized for after it was forced to settle its case to avoid costly litigation.
Conspiracy, no doubt, still seems a little strange, why not C.F. Martin & Co and others for that matter? The IRS scandal is still being played out as we speak so watch this space...
