Yup. It's not that far out of the way actually. We've been meaning to go back for ages now. Played there twice - once impromptu and the other time just not very well :-[ So it'll be cool to hopefully play a decent set.

Frosties has a more casual feel than TJ's too. It's a cool place to play and John's a good guy. There's a range of playing ability there too - from guys who play stuff most of us will never dream of playing to beginners and guys playing the same old basic stuff every time (but giving it everything and having a great time :goodtimes: ) . You'll definitely find a place to fit in. Do it ?

Yup. It's very different to TJ's but still nice. The sound is not as good (I think the biggest problem is that you tend to end up playing behind the speakers so monitoring isn't good). The PA is also louder than at Tj's open mics (super quiet there). Louder audience too.

I haven't been for a long time but from the photos that John's been posting on Facebook, there seem to have been some good players popping in lately too ?.

John who organises 1709 is also enthusiastic and encouraging. That's why I want to go back.

Hey Squonk... yeah, get back into it... the nerves will pass the more you perform.

Maybe you should try a duo... that way you lean on each other.
I support one of my pupils this way at open mics. In the beginning, I started off by taking the leading role and over the time have stepped back letting him take over.... singing and playing.
