I posted about the S2 range a little while back, but haven't played them yet. Looks like a good series of guitars to plug the hole between the SEs and the regular expensive US line of guitars.

PRS is officially me favourite guitar since acquiring a mccarty 58 about a month ago. Would not mind getting my hands on a s2 custom 24. Will probably be a while before we see them here?

i saw one available online from a store in cape town. but I'm not sure. if i hear, i'll post about it.

@muhammad - yup, that's the site i saw the guitar on first, think someone here on gfsa might have mentioned it.

in general, this looks like a great range of guitars. i have a sneaking suspicion prs will look to expand on it, once they see what this initial run does. as alan says, it seems to do a great job of plugging that 'hole' between the se's and the upper-market (core?) prs guitars. the mira has never really appealed to me, and i've owned a custom (albeit a 22), which now rests in the loving hands of lethe. there's just something really sexy (and tonally versatile) about that starla.

i gots to try one at least. if i find one, and particularly in antique white, i feel fairly certain i'll be putting certain items up for sale here in the classifieds to finance one

Just something to consider...I've been noticing a USA Starla (original series, not S2) at Marshall Music Constantiaberg on my last several trips to CT. I recall asking the store manager about it in passing (I'm partial to the Starla too) and it is older stock at old exchange rates that they want to clear out. Yeah the guitar is in CT, but you should be able to get a very good deal on it and it would be a better guitar than the S2. Of course they might have sold it in the 5 or 6 weeks since I was there last, but considering the Starla is a much less popular model than the usual Customs, it's probably still there. I think they also had one at the main Marshall CT store as well, now that I think of it.

I don't get anything out of telling you about it and helping you onto a competitor's product...but there it is. ? Do with it what you will. ?

so i called. mike is, if his telephone manner is anything to go by, a heluva nice, very helpful and accommodating guy.

they do still have the guitar on the floor but, as i suspected, it's a touch more than i can afford to spend. i called the woodmead branch, and they are expecting to get the s2 range in. i think i'll wait for them to come in - they're also more around my financial bracket at this stage. especially considering i'll more than likely be letting two guitars and an amp go for this - providing it measures up to expectations.
