Bad move. People can get out of paying for the no-ads option by moaning about this ad or that ad until there's no room left to advertise anything. I'd say that any advert that doesn't contravene points a to d of forum rule 1 should be allowed.
I agree in principle, but I think we also have to operate with the fact that we are an open-to-all-ages family-friendly forum in mind. As such, it behooves us to filter out any ads which many will find off-putting for a variety of reasons. Now, I'm pretty open-minded, so I think it's safe to assume that if I see something
I really don't like, there will be many others who find it offensive/disgusting. Google has lots of different ads, so we should be able to filter out the worst to keep the site looking less like the proverbial prostitute's purse while still covering costs.
@Squonk - no, you were right to raise the issue (even if it was done in jest). That ad had been annoying me greatly all morning...
