Hi guys and gals
Thanks for the good wishes. (No cast though)
Yeah I did forget some of my chords and started some songs off key. Even lost some of my cheat sheets due to a fan directed at the stage. Despite these little setbacks I was requested to return by the owner.
The thing with mistakes - and even the best guys make them - is to not telegraph them. I often pull a face when I flub a note, and in many cases the audience only knew it BECAUSE I pulled the face.
Solo sets can be a lot of fun. It's a good idea to have more material rehearsed than you need - that gives you some flexibility in real time. It also comes in handy when you get an encore.
To me it's a perfectly valid mode of performance. I've seen a lot of good players playing solo shows, and I don't see that it's a lesser thing than a band show. Except maybe for your own nerves. My experience of playing live suggests that if you have more guys on stage with you the nervousness gets spread around a bit and less attaches to you. Other than that, it need not be second prize at all.
Well done! And remember that it should be fun for you as well.
