Here Is Mine

I am currently a very happy chappy... my "dream" guitar is currently a PRS Custom 24 in makena blue...

And I currently have the baby brother (PRS SE Custom 24)

I have a thing for blue guitars ok... lol... I don't ever see myself spending 30-40k on a guitar tho...
      One of these:

But in an 8 string with the following specs:

      Bolt on
7 pc neck - 3 pieces roasted flame maple, 2 pieces walnut stringers, 4 sets of carbon fiber fillets laminated between.
      Basswood Body
Flamed Maple top stained in the most luminous light green possible (Satin finish)
      27.5" - 26" fan
      Endurneck profile
Pale Moon Ebony or Pistachio Fretboard (Depending on cut available)
      20" radius fretboard
      Stainless Steel frets (6100 sized)
      24 frets
Luminlay Side Dot Markers (Black around green)
Luminlay front dot markers - Vortex pattern (White around green)
      White hardware
Glow in the dark white binding on body & neck
Back of body painted white (thin poly satin finish)

Pickups: Either slanted bareknuckles (VHII & Holy Diver or Juggernaught set) or in a perfect world slanted Dimarzio D-Sonic & Air Norton or slanted D-Sonic & Liquifire, which don't exist, but in my dream they can, also in white ?

Volume & Tone control with 5-way selector, same positioning as an Ibanez RG with a Neutrik locking output jack.

Also the bolt on would be done with 1/4" T-Nut inserts, because compression.

      ?

Or a 7 string, same specs but maybe in a light blue colour scheme - Everything else adjusted accordingly.

      EDITED: Because pedantic.

        So...

...you've though about this a bit then? ?

You don't say how many frets...

Quite a bit really ? I have plans on trying to build some guitars for fun, and figured once I get a few done and feel I can do so adequately then I would build yon thing, already spec'd prices at one point and got permission from Ola Strandberg himself to use his designs, sadly as my financial situation is going to be changing quite drastically soon I won't be able to commence as planned, so it'll have to be put on the back burner.

Essentially the specs are just an accumulation of things I've decided I like over the years, with one or two things I had to think about, for instance I like rosewood fretboards, but a dark colour wouldn't work with the colour scheme, and I seriously dislike maple fretboards so that wasn't gonna happen, which led me to the idea of Pale Moon ebony which if I could find a piece with the striations matching my ideal would be perfect which I then realised would probably not happen, so I searched for alternatives which is where I discovered Pistachio being used in the same applications as ebony generally is as it's quite dense and hard etc ?

          For reference:

This guitar has a pale moon ebony fretboard, as you can see it has wonderful streaks in it, but I would want the streaks to match the "vortex" style front dot inlays, being that as a visual guide one of the only complaints about fanned frets is that when you get higher it becomes trickier to see which fret the high note is on in relation to the side dot as of course they are orientated further forward than the high notes are on the same fret, so I would want a combination of side dots and frontal dots that start on the low side and then at the 12th fret flip over to the high side, and it would be magical if I could find a piece of Pale Moon Ebony that has a striation that follows that change, but completely unrealistic, thus enters pistachio:

Same ballpark colour wise, but not as prominent a graining, so it wouldn't get in the way of the effect I would be going for with the front dot markers.

Also 24 frets, because range \?/

            Nice!!!

But... only 24 frets?! Why not 36?!

Well I like having a neck pickup, and I like having it a reasonable distance from the bridge pickup, I'm not one of those 22 fret purists but at the same time it's nice for my favourite clean sound, which is generally the outer coils of both pickups wired in series with each other, it gets a nice approximation of a tele esque kind of sound and it's the contrast in positioning that in my opinion creates the dynamic that I'd be going for ?

I was actually just pulling your leg... hehehe...

I've actually seen a guy that had the pickup UNDER the fretboard...

I have a 24 fret guitar... and experimented with dropping the tuning a half step across all the strings... It changed the whole character of the sound (according to my ears)...
That Michael Sherman axe is beautiful!

                  My dream axe would be....
