Sitting in my room last night playing along with some mp3s and I'm strumming and singing Blue On Black by The Kenny Wayne Sheperd Band feeling the need for some guitar playing to help me cope with the frustrations of work.
It's such an easy song in the same old D C G chords that so many songs use. I can pretty much hold the rhythm together... no mean feat, but there's a need for a lead guitarist here to pull off some of those licks. ?

Cool. I got a jam together with my regular lead guitarist and a new drummer yesterday afternoon and my newest song... Blue On Black went down very well.
Amazing what a decent mixing desk and PA sound like, I even impressed me on vocals. Problem is I choose very specicfic songs (eezy vocals etc) and this guy wants me sing those old Beatles numbers which aint working for me. Also I practise a song on acoustic guitar alone in my room, but I'm playing bass at the jam and I can't do both (play bass & sing)... we need another bassist, or vocalist. :-\
Bane
welcome man! oh and by the way, you'll be surprised how easy it is to do both if you invest enough time to work the basslines into your muscle memory (and know the words of by heart ? )
Anyway this is the place to be (not cape town, the forum ? ).
Enjoy!

Thanx Bane ? Teach an old dog new tricks huh? I downloaded the first section of instruction from www.freebassmanual online (found on gumtree) and it's taking so long to read that I give up and pick my acoustic guitar and play something I know instead. I don't know the theory but I have tremendous fun just jamming along. :?

I must admit, although i've tried books and online manuals before i've never been a fan. Unless dragons are getting slain and orcs are boiling goblins with cinnamon i get bored easily too. ?

DuhFiz is having difficulty posting pics. ??? either my connection is being stoopid or I'm dof, but I don't see a "insert picture" button anywhere...? :-\
I found my daughter's digital camera and took some snaps... (not the greatest photographer but thanx to Photoshop... lookit ?.
The little Ibanez bass guitar was bought new to learn bass on but the others have previous lives of which I know very little. They were abandoned and left for dead and I'm giving them a new life in my family. ? Now if I could just share this moment with youz... ???

Ah, another Peter Green fan. I love his version of "The Stumble".
