Yep, this is what I saw when I opened my guitar case.
Who is the best person to take this to in Durbs?
This is my main gigging guitar so I need it done like yesterday.

Ouch! My advice is if you're storing guitars in cases for lengthy periods of time, especially acoustics, de-tune them to reduce the tension on the bridge piece: do not fall for the siren voices perpetuating the irresponsible and dangerous myth that storing any guitar with no strings or de-tuned for any period of time will damage the guitar, it's most certainly the other way round, especially if you live in a high humidity area like Dubs.

Should be a pretty straight-forward repair though, hope you have her back and ship-shape soon.

I use it all the time, so it's in and out of the case... and yeah, I reckon its the humidity. We had a couple bad days last week.

Hi Pete
In the picture it seems like the bridge was pinned to the top. The face area looks fairly clean. If it was pinned you can do a self repair by taping the outline with heavy duty masking tape, taking 180 and finer grit sanding paper and flattening the glue. Apply clear 'poxy and weigh down with a heavyish book. wait 24 hours and voila!

Okay, so who thinks I should try to repair it myself? Will I need special clamps or will a heavy weight do?

It's not a difficult repair, with the right glue, but I'm afraid you do need the special deep-throated clamps... if you want to do it properly.

I'm all for DIY in most cases and I can't really see that being too difficult to do.

But if it was my main gigging guitar I would be cautious because the last thing you want is for it to come loose slightly midway through a set causing it to kill the tone and tuning - or even worse, to pull loose again completely.
It would give me more peace of mind if I knew it was fixed by a competent person using the correct methods, glues etc.

Great! I like Epidermix 372 epoxy, traditionally hide glue is used, but I wouldn't recommend that unless you've had some practice working with it before.

Clean off the finish under the bridge (the reason most bridges come loose in the first place is because they are glued to the finish) - you can mask off and use a stripper (my preference) or scrape and sand. Rough up the underside of the bridge, mask off if you haven't already, apply a thin layer of glue and clamp. Clean up glue squeeze-out once or twice over the next hour and leave overnight.

Yep... and you were right, they glued the bridge after they had put on the finish, so it was the finish that broke away from the surface. Gary suggested that he bolt it on as well as glue, which I agreed to, and if you look carefully you can the see circles on the bridge where he made good. Nice job, I'm pleased and I don't think it's likely to pull away whilst on a gig.
