NTSSSD (new TOMS sale seven string day)

For once, I happened to be in Jhb during the TOMS sale. Talk about kid in a candy store.

First I grabbed a DBZ Bird of Prey (need a pointy guitar!), then a glossy wood finish Prestige (wanted one for years), then the natural wood finish Prestige RGT (neck through, beautiful, REALLY wanted that for years.)

One last check for seven strings. Universe nah, got one. Seriously in a rush now; plane to catch back to CT. Stress!

Then the sales dude shows me this, hidden way back on the floor. ARMAGERRRDDDD!!!!

Ibanez Apex 100, I've seriously drooled over but never thought I'd even see one. Adrenaline shakes by now, people with me think it's hilarious 'cos we went zip-lining across mountain canyons the day before and to me that was like.. ho-hum.

That wood grain. That sunburst. That neck. ??? ?

Yep, here's the fuzzy shot of it rolling off the luggage carousel in Cape Town. Fragile stickers on the case cool! Travel street cred 8)

Almost. ? At least with the DBZ, it wasn't that expensive and looks great. Cheaper than many paintings! Or so I tried to rationalize it but my logical side wouldn't go for it. Damn you, overdeveloped left brain!! >☹

Thanks Alan! Must say I feel lucky to have it. It's a keeper.

Now to replace that DiMarzio Blaze bridge pickup. Know them well from Universe guitars, don't like 'em.

Very interesting yeah, haven't tried it. It has the normal arm (thank goodness) and that U bar. U bar can only go up though, not so sure that's much use. It looks cool though!

I've actually started using the trem a little bit, just on one song. Somehow it felt wrong to lock the OFR on that Dean RC7. I'll leave this one floating too.

Thanks man. It's nice and different yeah. My guitars are mostly just "H"! Whatever happens over there at the neck side doesn't really bother me. ? That said, the neck single coil is a cool idea, sounds great.

Speaking of "H", it's having a DiMarzio D Activator 7 Bridge fitted as we speak. Very curious to try that out.
