Epiphone Les Paul Custom or the Cort M600, which one would you take and why?
Lacuna-ZA
I'd go for the LP Custom.
1. If you can find a Epi or Gibson LP in SA, you are a very lucky chap. You won't struggle to re-sell it.
2. I don't know the other guitar ?
3. It looks pwetty
Yeah, I'm a noob...

Epiphone or Gibson for that matter do not have local distributors anymore, so I think you may have issues with warranty etc? Is the guitar new or secondhand?
I would go for teh Cort personally, but yea I am no expert.
nick
what sort of music are you wanting to play? personally Id take the Epi.

Think they are both good guitars, it just comes down to personal preference like how the guitar feels in ur hands - the feel of the neck, do u like a chunky or more lean feel. The epiphone is probably going to give u more of a bassier tone than the cort, so what style of music do u want it for etc.
Personally i would buy the lp custom and put high output pickups in - but that fits my needs and not necessarily your.....have you tried them??

I'd go for the Cort (but you knew that!). More for your money - Tonepros bridge, flame top, etc.

I have owned a gibson and currently own a cort and the cort win had down , firstly not as heavey , IMO a better neck , toneslok bridge , graphit nut and locking tuners ........ imo a better guitar for a better price

I bought my Epi LP Custom new for R4500 about 3 years ago. Great guitar for the price IMO. But like MJJJ says, completely different to a Cort M600.
It'll depend on what your personal preference is. Since I got my Fender my LP is gathering dust. ?

Well i`m must say that i am really happy with my lp custom, bought it in uk for bout 400 pounds and got the bridge pickup replaced - looking for a good neck pickup at the moment, no problems whatsoever with epiphone guitars.

PRS SE Singlecut is R12k at Marshall right now...before haggling of course.
How is that possible? I looked at them a few (two or three) months ago along with the SE Custom and Tremonti SE. The Tremonti was the most expensive, at about R6500.
But on topic, I'd go for the Cort. LP's are just too damn heavy. I also think the specs on the Cort are better than the LP, like Alan mentioned.

Sadly boys and girls MJJJ is CORRECT !
The PRS SE prices did a huge hopscotch in the last 6 months - any Epi's you guys & gals out there got your paws on recently in that 6800 and under bracket - pat yourself on the back !
No more fresh stock 'til the agency rights are reclaimed locally !
The next time you see Gibbo/Epis in this country, they would indeed be going around the 10/12 k mark and NO - they are GENERALLY not built a patch on the PRS SE quality - I've sold these kinds of guitars for over 6 years now, believe me I speak from experience !
HOWEVER - there are no rules !
One day you might just pick up a PRS SE that slipped through the quality control and got blupsed, another day you may pick up an Epi that plays like a well-made Gibson (almost impossible on both implications, but stranger things have happened) - try the one in your hands !
I think a lot of the guys here in GFSA land, particularly the younger less experienced players (and I mean NO OFFENSE by this statement) convince themselves that a particular brand name guarantees quality results EVERY time ! - BS baby !
I once saw a Gibson Herb Ellis guitar who's floating bridge snapped off after a few weeks/months - R 40 000 !
Judge the axe for it's INDIVIDUAL MERIT, and may the pick of destiny be with you ! :?

So basically what you're saying is that a company importing and selling guitars but not individually evaluating and pricing them is not giving their customers value for money. In fact, they would be doing their customers a disservice by leaving the value-ing to the inexperienced. Or are you not saying that?

My gut feeling told me to go with the Cort, but yeah, was just checking. Thanks for the input guys.
Peace ?

For 12K I'd rather buy a LTD
