I was admin on an international modeling and photography site for many years and saw their Internet Ranking drop dramatically after the original site was bought out by Internet Brands, and started a similar campaign of ad invasion.
As mentioned previously in a post regarding outside image hosting. Have you perhaps considered adding a urlcash script into all image posts in the posting menu? ie. Adding [img] tags adds the script.
http://www.urlcash.net/
People here enjoy viewing posted images to any thread, and if the site can earn an income from all the viewings, that would be more a participation and voluntary income than forced ads?
Just a thought. In my experience site members often veer away from sudden ad invasions than sit back and accept them, although I do understand the motivation for them.
I have unlimited server space / bandwidth on an American host, with almost nothing else on the domain except the blank index page, if you may be keen on parking the domain or hosting a free image hosting with the urlcash script or something of the sort?
