Major Theme Changes

Just a heads-up on some major theme changes... Dropped the GFSA theme song in the header. Made it a little bit more mobile-friendly (moreso on tablets than phones!) Dropped the crowd Made the header-height "shorter" Moved the RSS icon down, next to the top menu Removed header-ad on smaller displays Removed majority of navigation-links like Articles, Reviews, etc. (they will be back later) Got rid of the popup (it might be back in another form) Added 2 large ads on the right Added 1 large ad after every first post Made the site not show anything to anyone using AdBlocker. Just turn it off for GFSA and you're fine Made the header stay put when you scroll Replaced the old, tiny, ugly social sharing buttons with new, pretty ones These changes were made to: Improve forum display for most people on very wider AND narrower displays Simplify the header a bit Improve forum usability Help us pay bills Notes: Most of the ads don't show on tablets or devices smaller than 1280 pixels in width The ads aren't going anywhere. Don't ask me to take them off Edit: Floating header has been reverted due to problems on tablets. Paid subscriptions are now available to those who don't want to see any ads (see link @ top of every page) Re-fixed some problems with mobile. Works nicely on my phone now, if it's turned sideways. Not bad in vertical either. Shold work well for most people running at least iPhones, iPads, Samsung Galaxies, Samsung tablets, etc.

To everyone who posted showing support - thanks guys. You make it worthwhile to keep up the work. I really do love you guys in a plutonic, group-love, hippie kinda way ?

Hey Norio and Alan... I hate the ads as much as my bank account hates the forum...I ignore both emotions and still visit so all good with me. Thx for doing what you have to to keep this going. ?

I'm in Centurion man ?

At first the ads were a bit annoying, but my mind just filters them out now. I'm in support of anything that keeps the site running ?

R1000 for 6 months is just a smidge over R150 per month... Norio ... I need to consider a change in career... that's big bucks... HAHAHAHAHA.... jokes...

Just ignore the ads and move on, the same as you do when you drive down the road and ignore the billboards...

While the forum was perfect before them, and they don't necessarily add to the experience I have (directly), I really do appreciate the upkeep and maintenance performed by the site administrators and think it's more than fair for them to receive some compensation...further, I expect there is probably some monetary cost to running the site, and certainly it would be unfair to expect anyone to foot that bill personally.

I say do what you need to do to keep the forum running.
And it's nice to not have to pay for the above myself...though if one day I were required to contribute, I'd probably be happy to pay for membership.

I completely agree.
And stop ranting FFS. We get access to a great forum FOR FREE! There's so much knowledge kicking around here and all we have to do to access it is ignore a few ads. That sounds like a great deal to me.

Chocklit_Thunda

We'll I personally will rant ? I don't care about the ads.... It's kinda nice knowing that so many hot singles in my area want to meet me... I just want this stupid thing to stop changing its format for my phone screen.... :'( it's too narrow. It's impossible to browse on mobile.... And for someone who doesn't own a laptop or iPad it's a bit of a mare to access GFSA during the day...

NorioDS

I will be fixing that, Chocklit. I use it on my mobile (Galaxy S2) without a hitch but it's certainly less than user-friendly.

I want to replace the menu with one of those mobile-friendly ones and remove some of the unnecessary stuff in the mobile version of the forum. All in good time though. It used to be completely unusable on most phones so I take this as a step in the right direction ?

Heath

The ads don't bug me at all , all apart of the internet . But don't get much time these days to surf at work , but tapatalk on my pad and phone work great if you really wanna avoid the ads if you must ?

Well the pre-change site did work a lot better on mobile (although that was the full site)

I think a mobile version of the site is a great idea. Right now on my phone, the last modified thread in each topic on the right hand side isn't visible and I think that should be brought back ? for me it's an important feature in browsing the site. Maybe if you could incorporate that feature into a mobile version?

But thanks for looking into it ? 'Preciate it

Okie dokes, I've just hidden that but will see if I can bring it back without cluttering the mobile view. Thanks for the constructive feedback
