Hey folks

For those of you corksniffers that can also hear the difference between PIO and poly caps, have managed to get some decent pricing on some russian PIOs. However the biggest value I can get for that price is 15nF. Personally I use a 10 and 15nF in my R8. I'm able to get them for between R12 and R15 a piece.

Pity there are no 22s... I use a 22 on the bridge and a 15 on the neck.

I think I'm able able to get .22s but cause of the demand the price is higher - I'll confirm

Norm, sorry about the delay man. The previous guy was being difficult to deal with. The shipping somehow doubled just before I wanted to order ? Ended up finding a better deal (as you can see)

Ok finally found a place, but they either have the 1000v k40y9 for around $2 a piece or the 400v k40y2 for a bit over $1.20 a piece.

As usual, letting these go at cost. Just helping some folks out. Gonna bring probably 100 in, so might be able to haggle and get us all a better deal!

So for the uninformed, what would be the difference between these? I plan on using a 22 in my la cab for the tv jones classics.

Just those two? There could be a few differences, but the most noticeable would be size ? But they also might have different ESRs, which when combined with eddies from the pickups can cause changes in tone on the treble due to the varying impedances. And this is just skimming the surface really.

I suppose it would be the same answer for any two caps though, they are not ideal components and as much as people like to think that "if the value is the same, they will sound the same" that's just not the case. There is a possibility of it altering the tone even when the tone pot is all the way up. In some cases it will not be noticeable, in others it will - only way you can find out really is by testing for yourself.
