Apparently all those amazing consoles are largely tickets though, need a complete recap and service . Lots of gear including a full range of many of the studios arsenal of microphones got swiped a few years back during the change of ownership , those microphones that cost as much as a very decent 2hnd car each, owww!
But the sound treated rooms and monitoring systems are still intact, they must sound rather awesome.
Actually, the Focusrite works perfectly except for the left hand bay of stereo channels. The fault has something to do with the power supply because all of the stereo channels exhibit the same behaviour. Most of the issues all of the consoles face are power supply related.
The Neve is apparently completely fried, i.e. the logic board is kaput. Who knows what other damage was done. The console failed as a result of overheating (the aircon, typically, was broken) when some international producers and artists came to work at the place. Apparently there was some smoke, an electrical burning smell and all the console lights turned on. Who knows how much it will cost to fix.
The SSL is in good working order but, like I said, the power supplies are fried.
In terms of recapping, yes, they probably need it but because they have been largely unused for many years, they could still be in good working order. The Focusrite is as quiet and great sounding as the day it was installed. I know that a re-cap quote has been issued but is in the order of millions. There is a thread on mio.co.za where the chief engineer, Neelan Parshotam and Matt Allison from Ashton Audio, er, discuss the matter (I could only find the cached Google page):

Cheers ?
