I walked past Music Man in Cresta Shopping centre yesterday and noticed a Vintage Icon V6 guitar in the window, being Sunday it was closed so I couldn't try it out.
Anyone had any experience with these guitars?

Being an avid "Guitarist" reader, I know the Vintage guitars are rated highly by the magazine.

Don't know them at all, Squonk, but I love the description of the battered finishes as "distressed". Pure marketing genius ?

You should go and visit Music Connection on Jan Smuts Ave. They have a wide selection of Vintage's. Very decent build on each one I had a poke at plus the Trevor Wilkinson hardware is "gravy".

Didn't T Wilkinson also design the Italia range of guitars? Modern retro guitars. Saw one that looked like a hotrod with a bonnet stripe - like something Billy Gibbons should be playing. I loved it. Cost about R5000 hanging in the shop.

Mmm - would rather try a Blade, but Vintage do get good review in the UK - would be nice to try one as always ! ?

Not AFAIK. If you're into those kinds of things, also check out the Eastwood guitars

Mmm, according to Guitars for Africa's website (local importers) they were designed by him. But there's nothing on Italia's own (very poor) website.
Man, those Eastwoods look great! Just love the Jetsons-looking designs. Bit pricey though? And I thought Jack White only played real old, real pawn shop guitars...

Maybe - I don't know about it, but doesn't mean it's not true.

I don't think the Eastwoods are pricey for what they are. They are relatively small production runs and not your stock clones with off the shelf parts. A lot cheaper than finding the originals in playable condition (a lot of the originals were not very playable at the best of times).

I think you may find Jack gigs with the Eastwoods, but records with the originals. With any vintage guitar, it's often not worth the risk of taking the real thing out on the road.

I have a Vintage VS-6, and won't change it for anything. It sounds great, and the build quality is really excellent.

O, Alan, Trev Wilkinson is the man behind the specifications for Italia.

The Fret King guitars are his own designs as well.

I paid R4200 if my memory serves me right. A lot of the Vintage models go for something in that price range. (Or at least used to when I bought it last year...)
