Soundcard - Best Bang 4 Bucks

My Audiotrack MAYA 44 soundcard has given up the ghost. Being a professional musician I have no money to replace it so I'm looking for a 2in 2 out usb sound card for under a grand I have seen a Behringer UCA 222 on Sound Select For R450 these people http://www.soundselect.co.za/c/140/audiointerface?pagesize=12&gclid=CPGMpOTb5LkCFePHtAodcwIAqA. Has anyone had experience with these people or this Soundcard. I'm mainly worries that it will have poor latency although it claims to be super low latency. Should I try it or run away now. Any advice or feedback will be appreciated. I am not into PCI cards because I want to use it on my laptop as well.

Personally, I would say steer clear of Behringer. I've had much of their gear over the years, and I had issues with background noise on pretty much all of it.

Its hard to recommend anything other than Focusrite at present, as they are just so good for the money, but they are out of your range. You could still hold out for one coming up in the classifieds though?

Does it have to be USB or does you're laptop have firewire too? I'm parting with my Presonus Inspire Firewire sound card, which is two mics in and two instrument lines. Little bit more than R1k, but might help you if you have firewire? Great little box!

Or else keep an eye out for a Focusrite Scarlet 2i2 , saw one on olx for a grand but it has been sold. 2 in and 2 out usb.

Bothners have the Roland UA-11 Duo-Capture on special for R795, which takes mic or guitar and line level. http://www.rolandus.com/products/details/1155/498/features/

Cool! Glad you came right.

Very good clean pres and converters in the Roland interfaces too - even lower down the range, where they keep the same circuitry as the bigger models, just reduce ins and outs. Roland drivers also also usually excellent - rock solid.
