In the old days of Mean mister mustard, saw them perform at a place called Due East in Boksburg. Its not there anymore, but he is one of the reasons for wanting a strat! He played a surf green maple neck strat.. Damnit! Boy can play, and i like his music!

he is GOOD...seen them a few times at Rusty Hooks
also Blackie Swart, and Mel Botes not that I like of follow their music much, but the little bit that I've seen in videos on MK was impressive guitar playing

Its a pleasure, and the truth ?
would love to see when you perform with Cindy and the band..
I only know Substitute and Save me from her Clout days, but Save me is one of my favourite songs, an has sentimental value to it!

I know Blackie was part of the original "Ses snare".
Missed out on watching them live, but i have heard it was an awesome show!
The Ses snare that play at the moment is a different lineup.

Makes me want to try a rock version of "feeling good"... Pretty decent band I'd say.

bassmanwa

Louis greef julian laxton cliffie oleary

Hey Vernon [bassmanwa] you left off Neville Green who played lead with Cliffie's older boet Mike in the Shekels, plus the dude from Freedom's Children who died many years ago, can't remember his name right now, even tho' we spoke about him when you were out here in March.

deebee

As soon as i switched the 'puter off, his name came to me, Harry Poulos, played a red SG insanely well.

Ray

I think about the best SA guitarist must have been the oke from Baxtop. Larry Amos ne?Lots of dimensions.

Bob-Dubery

I always like Tom Fox's playing with Bright Blue. Kenny Henson was a fine player. There was a guy Jamie Scholfield that I saw a bit of in the late 80s with a band called Wired To The Floor, and also backing Jennifer Ferguson. I enjoyed his playing whenever I saw him. Jonathon Handley out of the Radio Rats was a very effective player, perfect for that band.

Ray mentioned Baxtop. Contemporaries of theirs were (ahem) Shag. This is the band that eventually morphed into the Asylum Kids. Anyways, they had two guitarists : Robbi Robb who went on to some measure of fame and fortune, and Cliffie Ellion who did not. Cliffie could really make your toes curl.

Coolcat

I will give a shout for these two;

Warren Haynes is a monster ? DM is good stuff too!

chris77

Mark Beling is interesting because I never really got into Mean Mr Mustard and thought they were a bit lame to be honest. And then I saw the oke live.... Suppose Mean Mr Mustard's more pop-ish stuff pays the bills but hell, he's waaay better than that.

Hammeron

Haven't been thru all the posts but who was the guitarist from Sweatband?
