Hi all,
Just wanted to know if there are any in-house expertise in this area.
I am looking to buy an electric piano, partly so that my niece and nephew (aged 5 and 7) can take some lessons and partly for me to noodle on.
Not looking at spending too much (between 8k-12k) and would like something with a good sound and realistic action.
For my price range second hand would be ideal and I am not in a huge hurry.
Been looking at the yamaha arius series?
Anyone have any experience with these instruments?

The Yammy's are pretty good - there are also the P-series pianos, which don't have built-in stands and are quite affordable. Teachers generally are happy with them too.
I do prefer the action on the Rolands though (so does my wife, who is a trained classical player), and they have better backup. So given the choice, I'd go for those.

After reading this I have been looking at the Yamaha P105. Seems like a good choice.
Which Roland models should I be considering?

I think Roland's FP-range are the Roland equivalents of Yammy's P-range. I'm a fan of the Roland Stage pianos like the RDs.

The Kawai stage piano , Sp88 I think it is , is really amazing you can get them after discount for around R12k , 88 keys , just about the best key touch/feel , amazing piano sounds and some really good synth sounds. Semi weighted keys are about the nicest feel from my experience.
But all the major manufactures professional stage pianos are nice and come in at around R14k, best thing is to go play a few and if you patient wait for the Toms or one of the other music shops yearly sales and pickup one for peanuts, they always have one or two nice stage pianos on the sales.
