Hia all!
So most know I've been having a little trouble with my Yamaha Pacifica 012 electric developing a slightly annoying buzz on A and lower E strings around the first 5 frets, I couldn't spot anything in particular wrong with it so as suggested by everyone in the chat I took my baby to Oosthaven's in Pretoria so the experts could check it out for me. My mate there couldn't spot anything in particular wrong either and also, like most would probably add, mentioned that we shouldn't expect the world from such a rather inexpensive guitar. Anyways so we were given a few options like raising action and and but after fiddling with some of this guy's guitars I decided to give his idea of putting heavier strings on a go. The guitar obviously had to go into hospital so he could do a re-setup for me with the heavier strings and he payed some attention to my concerns so he will try and get the action as low as possible with least buzz. I must again itterate, 10 stars for the guys at this shop, I felt like a celebrity again on Saturday when these guys don't owe me anything! It was a really pleasant and informative experience. But then came the problem, what do I play with untill I can get to the shop again next friday (I work bad hours except for Friday)?!?!?
I was given the star treatment again and some really interesting lessons instead of the usual with other shops trying to sell you the most expensive guitar. We narrowed our choices down after listing all the ups and downs of all the guitars in our price range and I was ready to fork out R4k for a "Decent" guit. The salesman could see I wasn't still quite yet sold and out of nowhere furiously started running around the display stands...he realised there was another particular guitar with the same region of sound we're looking. Poof away he goes into the stores only to return a few minutes later calling me from the back. He remembered they stocked another bad boy but couldn't find it on the shelves. As luck would have it this sucker had the same warm sound of the guitar on the shelve that I found ugly, but this time around it was preeeetty! It just felt great from the moment I sat down with her and I was in love. It couldn't have been a better occasion when he told me this puppy was in fact a couple hundred bucks cheaper than the ugly one in front!
My mind was made up at this point. I was getting an acoustic like I've wanted for quite some time. Got a nice flightcase for camping purposes and a bag full of freebies to sweeten the deal. On top of that they gave me a RIDICULOUS amount of discount to ensure I never buy anywhere else ever again. I love that place! Good people, friendly faces, good equipment...what more can I ask for right? :? :?
This guitar still has the fresh wood smell when you pick it up. To make it all even sweeter we went to visit a flying buddy of mine last night and he's as luck would have it quite a musical guy himself playing guitar, piano etc. We broke the guitar in last night with me doing a pathetic attempt at playing rhythm while he took control of the keyboard. I had such a blast!
Anyways enough of me trying to express my happiness. Here she is! Cort MR710F NS accoustic/electric.
