What gig opportunities are there on the East Rand and environs?

Say, hypothetically, I was to move close to the East Rand... more specifically Lombardy East.... are there any pubs in that area that might employ me (acoustic guitar and vocals) playing jazz ballads as well as pop, country, blues and rock covers from the 50's to current?

Hey pete ... If you move to jozi ..... Be prepared to do gigs in a 100 km radius ..... I travel about 130 km round trips sometimes more to gigs .... Yes there are gigs in jozi but competition is stiffer than anywhere else .... So if you can be unique enough to beat off the competition you will work, but be prepared to travel a lot ,

Thanks Keira. The traveling doesn't worry me but the cost of petrol does... Sometimes it's not worth doing a gig because of this.

Whilst this might be your experience Keira , I personally know other multi-genre gigging musos in and around Jhb , who's experience of gigging opportunities differs vastly.
Pete, there's also the corporate / private function circuit that you could tap into as well . Even more so If you would consider teaming up with a young black lady who can sing well .
With your huge repetoire , you'd do extremely well in that market imo. 8)

Thanks Joe. I'm willing to play with anyone... I thrive on interaction and yeah, the corporate / private function market is a great call. Would love to crack that scene in Jozi. I don't see why not.... as you say, just gotta find the right person to team up with.
