I wouldn't worry, its going to be epic!
AND IT IS! But first, some pornography:
The Celestion G12H in it's hibernation chamber:
The lowly Rocket 50 in it's natural habitat. See how it cowers once it's protective cover is removed by it's natural predator: the ferocious GAS-ridden Tinkerer.
The Rocket 50 is a shy little beastie, and tries to flatten it's already small ring magnet when confronted with a superior specimen in order to look non-threatening, as can be seen in the following picture:
In a short but vicious display of power, the Rocket 50 retreats from the presence of it's superior challenger, allowing the G12H to occupy the former's nest.
As to the sound:
It's hard to describe, really. It does everything I wanted it to, by which I mean the high-end is less shrill, mids are more pronounced and the low-end is less flabby. Smoother, more musical, better breakup. It's a hell of a lot louder too, I can still play it at bedroom levels, but the upper volume level just about doubled, I think. It's more "alive", if I can put it like that. Where with the old speaker it sometimes felt like I was playing a guitar and then the Laney tried to imitate the sound, with the new speaker it feels like I'm more "connected" to it and when I'm plucking a string it's not that I'm only playing a guitar, I'm playing an entire setup. This is all venturing dangerously close to getting metaphysical, so I'll just stop the descriptions here ?
My PAF-inspired humbuggies let's me get dangerously close to Jimmy Page territory too, which personally makes it worth almost any price, and I'm just that much closer to the sound in my head.
Also, the Singemonkey Approach has been proven correct yet again ?
