So, I had been considering getting an acoustic with a spruce top since my Yama CPX8 and Crafter GAE18n are both Cedar tops, just to get that different voicing. As I have been seriously impressed by my Crafter, I started looking into the Crafter line of acoustics at what was available....
I was then 'informed' of a clearance sale that was happening, and that a particular one I'd been looking at would be available at a super great price, so I had to make a plan.....
The plan succeeded, and here is the fruit....
This is the Crafter 40th Anniversary model 'PG-Maho plus' Pegasus model. Specs are pretty impressive...
Solid Englemann Spruce top. Solid Mahogany back, and laminate Mahog sides. LR Baggs Element pickup and DLX Preamp. Pegasus MOP inlays.....
It also came with a nifty deluxe gigbag, which I have to say I am very impressed with!
All in all, this has proven to be a really nice sounding guitar, and has exceeded my expectations. The action is a little high for my taste at present, but once I sort that, I cannot wait to spend a lot of time with this beauty! The tone is totally different to the cedar topped ones I have, and has a much brighter 'presence' to it, as could be expected of the mahog/spruce combination. Now my only issue is selling off all the gear I'm aiming to part with to repay the missus for my spending spree!
Regards
G!
