For any reason other than money! There's a lot of designs I don't particularly like but I've even been tempted to pick up an eye-gouger on occasion. Crazy no...

What guitar will you NEVER play?

I knew someone with the bass guitar model, gawd it sounded awful so it has been ruined for me sadly.

Quite a few actually.... :-[

1- Fakes.
2- Anything that looks like it will go well with spandex pants and big hair.
3- Novelty shaped guitars.
4- Guitars with 'Look At Me I'm An Attention Whore!' finishes.
5- Homemade relics.
6- Any signature model by a member of a boy band.

I also don't see myself ever playing Classical guitars or 7/8 stringers purely because I am too crap too to do them justice and don't see me ever having enough time, dedication and will power to do anything about it.

He he he. That Casio thing had a latency of about 5 seconds and that was "straight". I'd hate to think what the latency would be if you plug some midi-cables into it. Like I said, it was good for a laugh, not much else.

I've seen one played live a couple of times (I always pay attention to the one or two guitar players who aren't playing Strats). It's surprisingly understated and sounded surprisingly good.

You don't need to do them justice, there are tons of 7 & 8 string players out there who basically only use the lowest 3 strings ?

They're actually really good at what they do, and the new Tyler designed ones play a lot better than the old one, which had the weirdest/most uncomfortable neck profile I think I had ever come across.

I think for me, other than complete oddballs that are too far to comprehend in the players mind, the only guitars I would probably never play, but certainly would never own are the Flying V's of any kind or variation, and the Gibson SG (and all copies there-of). I've always found the SG's to basically be a dead weight plank. Almost as if the luthiers started with a design, then lost the plans part way through, and thought 'its Friday afternoon... Lets leave it like that and go get a pint. It'll do!'

Having said that, I have no issue with people who like either of these types, and even those who think they are actually beautiful designs. After all, someone must like them if they have done so well. Just for me they are just not right!

Well, as I said, I have no issue with those who like those particular guitars, but for me personally they just have no appeal or any level of comfort and playability.

Just to dig a deeper hole, had you asked me this question a year or two ago, I'd have also included pretty much anything made by Fender other than a Tele! Nowadays, I've learnt to appreciate the Strats, Jazzmasters etc, but I'd still much rather be rocking a hollowbody or a single cut!
