Hi all, just remembered a "costly incident " from my early teenage years. My dad bought a Fender guitar amp and Yamaha 12 string electric guitar.I was quite intriqued and decided at age 11 to add disco lights to the amp.I connected 2 wires to the back of the amp and attached both to the lightfitting in my room.I plugged the guitar in,and remember switching this contraption on.I vaguely remembered a very very loud bang,no electricity in the house, and dogs howling in the garden. My dad wasn,t very pleased and i wouldn,t have been as adventerous if i had realised the worth of the instruments. Thought i would share it...moral of the story.... don,t mess around with electricity.... peace ... C.

School days... (cue wavy lines and a harp glissando)
A friend told someone their speakers would go louder if they were plugged into the mains. The guy tried it. When the hapless one complained that he had blown up his dad's speakers, my friend said: "I didn't say how long they would be loud for". ?

I think that I mentioned before, the time that our drummer placed his stool on top of the electrical extension cable and got the 'shock of his life' when he leant down and grabbed it to pull it closer to the kit after a couple of songs! It could have been really nasty but because he was still alive we found it very funny.

A very good friend of mine is one of the brightest people you'll ever meet (several degrees, including one in laser physics. LASER PHYSICS?!?) but he manages to be cataclysmically dumb when it comes to electricity. He's shocked himself several times, once when replacing a fuse on a stove, once when he pulled the extension cord of the hedge trimmer over the pool (yes, the plug point fell in) and once, memorably, by sticking his tongue onto the inside of the dishwasher. Apparently he was fetching a spoon that had fallen into the back, got a tiny shock and thought "I'll test it like you test a battery" and promptly stuck his tongue onto the metal surface, discovering that it wasn't static. :?
Thankfully he's lived through them all. Somehow...
