Fender’s Research Special Division (RSD) team knows no boundaries when developing new components for Fender guitars and basses.
Based at the Fender Custom Shop, the RSD team is not confined to the norm or “What we’ve always done.” Instead, the team thinks in terms of “What if?” and “Why can’t we?” The intent is to reach new heights of creativity with totally new designs that will improve musical instrument performance.
Now, two revolutionary RSD components—the RSD Telecaster® bridge and the RSD High-Mass bass bridge—are available for Custom Shop Pro instruments. They can also be ordered for new one-off Custom Shop models.
RSD Telecaster Bridge
With a new design that echoes the traditional Telecaster bridge by way of the original cover, the RSD Telecaster Bridge offers a more refined look and feel.
Lower bridge sidewalls offer greater access to the strings while picking closer to and on top of the bridge.
Compensated saddles retain the tonal characteristics of a vintage Telecaster while adding greater intonation control.
Bridge pieces are brass (as on very early Telecaster guitars), and the D- and G-string bridge piece is machined from a single solid brass piece.
Available on the Custom Deluxe Telecaster and Telecaster Pro.
RSD High-Mass Bass Bridge
Machined from a solid brass billet, this versatile bridge lets bass players use whichever stringing method they prefer.
A top-load option is designed for players who prefer a more substantial bridge design for increased sustain.
The bridge’s string-through-body alternative is ideal for basses built with a string-through-body mounting option.
Available on the Custom Shop Pro Precision Bass.
