Need to insure my amps, not sure what to value them at, any idea's?

Looking to insure my amps, but not too sure what to value them at, anyone know +/- what amount I should be looking at?

You know I can't find that old Marshall ad anywhere on the internet. The look of that bluesbreaker amp in that pic was a big influence when I was a lad. I was like, "I wonder what that sounds like." Then I found out it sounded better than anything.

Before you insure decide what you are insuring for. Is it to replace it with the exact same model or to buy something similar. Then check what you would do in the event that it was stolen and then work out the price for a replacement then get your quotes for the amount you want. Then check the terms of the insurance etc. Will they replace or pay you out. The biggest thing is to determine the value correctly, especially if you cannot get an exact replacement.

From another thread on the forum people advised chatting to this guy www.guitarexperience.net/ I think, he can value and give a certificate if I am not mistaken..

Others can advise but this is one route..

My girlfriend uses these people for her very expensive cello and its only a couple hundred a year for a ~$20k instrument in her case.

Does anyone have any advice on insuring music gear. I have the usual household contents cover that doesn't specify the instruments :-[. This topic just reminded me that it's something that I've been putting off for another day.

Also... what about if the stuff gets stolen out of your car/van at a gig or something?

Mostly any household insurance will cover your gear, if you add it to a specified items list, which insures it wherever it may be, if something goes wrong. Ive had exceptional service from MiWay.
Its a bit costly, but well worth it, seen as though we are in S.A.

I've posted the lark link a number of times. They specialise in musical instruments and understand the conditions under which your instruments are used i.e. if you have to have repairs, you take it to your own luthier, instruments are covered in and outside the house for most if not all eventualities. Its much more flexible than household or specified (expensive) items in your household insurance. Only reason I'm not with them yet is because I'm lazy.

I think you have to mail them for a custom quote anyway because they don't have a quote generator thingy for electric guitar and amp equipment.
