So who's going? The line-up look cool this year - I'm going be watching bands for 3 days straight by the looks of things. Lots of cool local bands as well as Deftones ? I haven't been since they've started this cashless thing. Those of you who have used it - anything important to be aware of? Cheers

We, The Diamond Dogs, are head-lining the "Skelm-Stage" tomorrow (Thursday) night.
Our set is from 22:00 to 23:00.
If any of you guys are around, come for a chin-wag afterwards.
See you there. Cheers.

Caught most of the set. It was cool to see you play. Good ol' rock 'n roll :bopping:
I hung around to try and catch you afterwards but then Dan Patlansky's started playing so I ran off to watch.

I had a good time. Great to be back on the Koppi again. But it has got big hey. And that new Dome stage ??? I suppose it's necessary because how big this thing's got but it feels like you could be anywhere - when you get up close all you can see is the black backdrop - no thorn trees or anything... For me the small stages are the best and are what Oppikoppi is about. The Grasdak at the old top bar is awesome and there was some interesting stuff going on there. The Skellum stage with the thorn trees hanging over it and the koppie at the back if you want a seat is also really cool. The James Phillips stage with the thatch is quite lekker too.

Anyway, the bands:
Besides Arno, Thomas from the Forum was there with Jesse Clegg so I watched a bit of that too - really good playing from him but the music's not my thing.

Stuff that I enjoyed:
Savage Lucy were first up - some prog-metal-ish instrumental stuff.
Kidofdoom
The Black Cat Bones (aka lip-syncing w*nkers ? ) (twice ?- once unplugged). I really enjoyed both sets. As well as his usual Strat, Andre Kriel played a Burns as which was cool to see. Also Gareth and Tammy Wilson from Southern Gypsey Queen joined them to play SGQ's Radio Revolution and dedicated to their brother and SGQ drummer Paul who died earlier this year. Awesome to see them playing again and quite emotional too, given the context. Tammy did an acoustic set as part of her solo project up at the Grasdak too, and Gareth joined her again.

Dan Patlansky was flippin' amazing - one of the highlights for me.
Albert Frost
Ballistic Blues Band were fun too - bluesy Rock 'n Roll stuff.
Fuzigish and Rambling Bones did their usual thing.

I also quite liked Bye Beneco, a kind of "Indie" acoustic band. They played a few sets but I saw them at that little tent stage at the Ice tea caravan thing. Not normally the kind of music I'd listen to but I like their set a lot.

Mango Groove were really good to watch. I'm glad I saw them.

I wanted to watch the Koos Kombuis tribute but only had time to catch a little bit. Saw Koos do one song a least.

What did you guys think?

How incredible were Deftones???? From opening with Rocket Skates, each song hit harder than the last, giving high after high. Chino is a mega frontman and absolutely owned the show.

The rest of Oppi was fun too ?
