I have an Epiphone acoustic that I bought second hand a few years ago, the thing sounded sweet at the time, but during a move the neck snapped near the headstock, and after repairing, it just lost something.
It's now done it again (after another move.. ), so I've replaced it with a Tanglewood (with a case!!), but I've always been curious about these heads. Are they just cheap plastic jobs, or something more special? The photo makes them look plain white, but the colour has some 'texture' to it, like a feint marble look?
