That's how I've been doing it for years, with one major difference: I make a point of keeping signal negative discrete from screen earthing, with only one contact point (normally a solder lug under the switch on a Strat/Tele or the first pot in an LP layout). I don't want to rely on screen for the negative signal path. I don't solder pot lugs to the casing any more either - they are earthed from the screen, rather than the other way round.
