Strats of GFSA

Don't thank me. I know we were all soon going to have the "Blue MIM Strats with a Warmoth neck and gold hardware of GFSA" thread. Post Strats. Any strats. Rule: You must own it. You must submit a pic of your actual guitar, not a product shot. It must have a strat-shaped body (my pacifica doesn't count. Your Strat shaped ESP with three humbuckers and a floyd rose and a pointy headstock does.) That should be fine.

jt wrote I may have played that Kirn strat once... Very nice, loved that fat neck! Tone for days!

I think you may have ... also has 1-3/4" nut width.

kayDUB wrote Every time I see that K-line i just about pass out - beautiful!

Thx, as much as the Kirn is a different guitar and a great guitar in my opinion, the K-Line still remains my go to guitar. A K-Line Tele will be on the way sometime in the future for certain....

I am quite intrigued to see that most of the GFSA strats have rosewood/ebony fingerboards as opposed to maple ....... any particular reason why this is so ?. ???

In my case I prefer the feel of a rosewood board. Also, there is something in the top end on a maple board I am not crazy about. The RW seems a bit more mellow.

Mine is actually pau ferro. I like the sound of maple boards, but hate having a finish on any board. I like the look of rosewood and the feel. Pau ferro is the best of both, plus it feels and wears like ebony.

This.

Rosewood feels softer and is not as bright as the maple fretboards. I like a maple neck though.

Chabenda

Well, judging by the grooves that appear on well played rosewood necks, I would say that they are softer. Maple goes grey but doesn't seem prone to the same 'potholes'.

I like the feeling of ebony.
So am sure I'd like pau ferro.

I'm more convinced that a maple neck is more suited to a Tele ???

Jeez..that's a heavy relic Dan.
Be interested to know why you didn't go with an aged pickguard...

It's taken a while, but here's the first full family pic since I got the Olympic White Voodoo Strat (in the middle) last year.

Thanks dude, I absolutely adore them all to bits, and, until recently, I was able to say I finally had all the Strats I could possibly want... that is... until those fiendish swines at Fender Custom Shop released the new Fender Custom Deluxe Stratocasters... I think there might be one of them in Cobalt Blue Transparent or Purple Transparent some time in my future... while I've always avoided guitars so sumptuously appointed I just simply don't think I can resist a Custom Shop Strat with a beautiful quilted maple top!
