So the wall came down, the first 16lb sledge that we had broke after less than 5 minutes on the wall, so got a new one, got a mate to tag team and we had it down in a little under an hour.
This wall was such a badly built POS...........2/3 of the wall was single brick that came down pretty easily. The other 1/3 was a double brick wall (non supporting mind you)
This other side you can see how much space we gained, not much, about 3m sq, but damn it makes a difference.
The piddly little window will be bricked up as well as the old door that was used to get in and out. One of the upper vents will be filled, the other will be left open as I need it to vent the upper ceiling area as the last thing that I want it condensation building up between the ceiling and the roof.
Ideally I'd love to chisel off all the old plaster and then re-plaster the walls to get a crisp finish and knowing me, I'll probably do it anyway once I've closed off the door and various holes. I'm even half in the mood to brick up the big window while I'm at it as it'll never be used again anyway. I've managed to save a huge heap of bricks from the old wall which will be enough to fill up everything.
After the bricking up, the roof and wood beams will be sandblasted and then primed and coated with a sealer/ primer and a sound foam sprayed directly onto it, which will stop rattles on the outside.
